Strategic Plan

A Strategy Can Only be Realized through True Collaboration

The leadership of this community has rallied around a common vision that we are a community well known for our thriving business location; a destination for culture and nature lovers; and home of compassionate and collaborative people. Hear from our partners about how this vision is being met through partnership.

Why We Do What We Do

Our strategy will create an environment where individuals and businesses are willing to risk their capital. We do this by creating economic opportunities for our citizens, enhancing household income to stimulate economic vitality, which increases revenues that afford us a better quality of life and thus attract the highest and best talent.

Our Impact on the Community

We are focused on leading Douglasville and Douglas County toward economic sustainability. We do this through recruitment of businesses within our target sectors, assisting our existing small, medium and large businesses with expansion, identifying real estate development opportunities, and influencing policy that creates this economic vibrancy.

Understanding Incentives

Incentives never made a poor deal good, but often tip the balance between competing good deals. They can help persuade a non-resident board or management that a community is a good fit for a company.

They also can fill a gap to make a project that builds jobs and makes capital investment happen. Some incentives are direct financial incentives, whereas others are induced. For example, infrastructure improvements that serve an area could be seen as an incentive if competing locations do not already have the infrastructure in place. Or an incentive to a company may be the support a local community provides in its commitment to help recruit prospective employees to the company.

Our toolbox of incentives includes federal, state and local options. Our experience has seen that not every project takes advantage of the incentives available to them. Furthermore, not every business that we engage with is offered a financial incentive. We are careful to analyze the benefit company location or expansion brings to the community and ensure this is not offset by the incentive.
